If you have so much on this week, more than usual because you’re still playing catch-up on the back of the Xmas holidays, then pause and take a long slow deep breath.
It will immediately drop your heart rate and blood pressure, and make you instantly more calm and peaceful.
This is because a long deep breath triggers something known as the ‘parasympathetic nervous system’ (which controls your rest, relax and digest response). This immediately takes you out of ‘fight or flight mode’ and the anxiety and stress associated with that.
So in amongst all of the ‘doing this week, take a moment, or several moments like me, pause and take a long slow deep breath.
